1-Road between our base camp Quan Loi and Quan Loi village (Tam Loi). Tanks would clear the road every morning for mines. Notice white vehicle behind APC. Little Vietnamese mode of transportation, called Lambrettas. 2-Going down same road with Vietnamese a on motor scooter. 3-Truck hit mine. Driver posing with truck. We had floor and under the seat with layer of sand bags. FH000017.jpg FH000016.jpg FH000015.jpg

Here's some pictures I've posted a while back. A baby pygmy deer. A mountain yard have us as a gift. We tried to feed it milk, didn't work. Died 3 days later. What did us 19 year olds know. I've read some where they think they are now extinct. FH010012.jpg FH010013.jpg FH010024.jpg

Here's a picture I took of Johnny Grimes standing in a crater made by a 122mm Chinese rocket. They hit up just prior to company coming up from Phouc Vinh. Just outside my tent. Had to replace tent holes made in it by scrapnel from rocket. FL000008.jpg

Craig that is one bad little plane. Well not really little but looks like it can pack a punch for its size. It can carry quite a bit of fuel with the external extra tanks. Also the weaponry it has the capability of carrying.

Working on weapons in my shop tent. Bottom picture, me working on a grenade launcher mounted below barrel on -16s. I got there in June 67 and they had problems with mounts cracking and breaking. Shortly after they were discontinued. FL000001.jpg FL000019.jpg FL000035.jpg 0985730-R1-E037.jpg Project27.jpg Viet Nam III 015.jpg

When they brought her up to Quan Loi, i was only one she hung around with. I'll never for get one day I was sitting on the side of road and open a can of C rations, ham and eggs and dumped it out for her. She smelled it and walked off. Girl herding water buffalo don road south of An Loc. Thunder Road. Isn't it funny we remember pets names, people not as much. FL000009.jpg FL000027.jpg FH010008.jpg

I bet I have hundreds of famous World War II photographs rolling around in my head. So many are so frequently seen.

I don't have nearly as good a grasp on photographs from Vietnam and I particularly enjoy private photos from vets who served there.

    Thanks!

Kids along Thunder Road would wave as GIs for chop chop for babyson. Some GI would throw them a can of C rations. My short time bunk I made next to bunker in case we had incoming. They did have beautiful sunsets there. FH000036.jpg FH010035.jpg FH010038.jpg
