looking for a new carbine

    anyone have experience, real, hands on experience, with the model 7?

    Another old thread, but okay....
    I used a Model 7 in .308 for eight years as my primary rifle. It was a smooth action, very comfortable fit and plenty accurate. Handloaded Nosler Ballistic tips would go into an inch and a half with a three shot group. One minor problem with mine, which was only noticable when shooting groups, was the tendency for the point of impact to wander after the first or second shot. After much work and investigation this was attributed to stress in the barrel. In all other aspects it was a superb rifle for the role intended, especially after bedding.
