Took a personal day to get stuff done. That took all of 3 hours, so it proved a good opportunity to go squirrel hunting.
The trees are in full leafy mode, so I tried something new- 20 gauge H&R with a turkey choke and #6 pheasant loads.
It was pretty dark under that canopy. Dark enough that the one squirrel I saw got away scot-free. He was maybe 25 yards and on the ground. The shot went high left and he scampered up a tulip poplar, never to be seen again.
The trip wasn’t a waste, though. Found some really good brushy areas for hunting this Fall.
