I recently purchased a national ordnance m1 30 carbine (serial # 124XX). Anyone have info about national ordnance m1 carbines? Are they made from USGI parts?
Nat'l Ordnance carbines were made with surplus parts. No one is really sure if the receivers were stamped or milled. I have one, and it works just fine. It's not the greatest, but it sure isn't the worst. Kinda upper 50%. It has 100% parts interchangeability with GI carbines. As I recall, the receivers were made in Japan in the 70's and early 80's. Some of the N.O. carbines came with a commercial barrel. By that, I mean the barrel had a different front sight on it, and the barrel looked as if it had been spun on a lathe. There are rings around the barrel, and it has a feel of ridges when you run your fingers over it. Mine had this barrel, but I have since replaced it with an original. There weren't any problems switching them out. Hope you enjoy it............
