I just bought a Springfield Garand. The metal is all in really good shape, but the stock looks like it was used as a ball bat.

I tried a bit of 00 steel wool, but it ain't gettin' any prettier.

I found a company called MidwayUSA that is advertising:

Boyds' Stock and Handguard Set M1 Garand Walnut Oil Finished for $101.99.

Does anyone have any experience with this outfit? Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Midway Is Rated AAA+ in my book for excellent service and great Products!
They have a No-hassle return policy but I have never had to use it !
Lots of our reloaders in the Local shooting club buy from them and they even helped me get a factory Remington part faster than they could get it for me 1

I would call Jim at Dupage trading since he worked so hard to make a WWII style stock from Boyds and sells them to the CMP also. He worekd with Boyds for years on this and finally got it close so he finish fits them before selling them. His web page is here http://www.dupagetrading.com/ tell him Rick Borecky { Stock Doc } sent you. Rick

All good advice above...and I will second Mooseman684's comment, "Midway Is Rated AAA+ in my book for excellent service and great Products." I needed Model '94 Winchester parts and found them in stock there.
