M1/Remington Garand Contract..

Hi all,
We all know that Ordnance was looking for one civilian company to make M1 Garand rifles, before WW2. Only 2 companies bid for that production. Winchester and Remington made the bids. Winchester won the bid for Production of the M1 Garand because Winchester was willing to take partial payments. Remington required advance payment. However, Remington proposed a deal at the final settlement at the end of the contract. What was the deal that Remington offered to Ordnance on the production of the M1 Garand Rifle contract?
Thanks again

Gyrene,
You might want to check out my two books on the M1 Garand. They are the orders for the M1 starting in 1920 till the end of WW2. I have some files posted on my two sites to give you some idea what the files look like. The books have a the files by date. Here's one of my site addresses:

If you have time check it out.
No better source then the orders for Ordnance

Hi all,
On the Remington Garand contract here is the answer:
"The Remington Company also proposed that there is a final settlement at the end of the contract to provide that if the profits made are in excess of 10% a refund be made to the Government for such excess."
Thanks again
