What type of Saiga? A shotgun, AK rifle? etc
Pretty sure...
The first two numbers in the serial number (serial number may start with a single letter first so it would be the next two numbers) would be the year.
The number under the proof marking stamp (looks like a small picture) is the date the rifle was certified/inspected.
It is not uncommon for these numbers to be off by a couple years on the older guns.
As they were manufactured, sat in storage for a bit, and then the batch was selected for export or something and they get inspected and shipped off.
My Saiga AK74 for example was both manufactured by Izhmash and tested at the Izhevsk mechanical plant in 2013.
My serial number is 13XXXXXXX
and I have a 13 stamped under the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant marking.
In August of this year the two companies merged together and are now known as the company "Kalashnikov Concern".
