Instead of stainless, I strongly recommend going for the teflon finishes available now. I have a Winchester mod. 88 in .308 which I destroyed the collector value on by getting the "Black T" finish by W.F. Birdsong applied. I had Arctic gunworks up in Fairbanks (Alaska) put his "Arctic-Kote" on my Ruger Blackhawk and my NEF .30-06. These guns are virtually rustproof in our soggy S.E. Alaska weather and salt water environment. Since it is a matte finish there is no glare to spook the game. Stainless is okay, but not very hidable unless you paint it.
