does marlin make a stainless version of the 444 lever action? who makes a weaver rail mount for the 444? thanks for your help.

Thanks for the mount info, that looks like it will work. I looked it up on cheaper than dirt.com . I checked out the marlin page and they only list stainless for 45-70, but i have seen a couple of classifid ads that listed "marlin 444ss" and I was wondering if maybe there was a stainless option in the past. If anyone has seen one let me know.

Thanks for the reply, Mitch. Especially the note about the scout mount as i'm thinking of putting on my c-more red dot from my pistol. How would you compare the recoil of the 444 w/ other calibres? I've shot .308 and 30-06. Have you tried the 18" barrel ? I was wondering if there is a significant loss of accuracy or recoil absorb. Thanks!
