Welcome to the Forum from the Peoples Democratic Republic of New York.
I know what you mean about collecting military arms. It was a lot easier before I had to go on Social Security, but I'm semi-close to having the arsenal I had of toy guns when I was a kid, back when kids played Cowboys & Indians, and Combat. Only now, I have the real thing, along with some I never had as a kid!
I notice you mentioned the Martini-Henry. I have a Martini-Enfield (same rifle, but in .303 British) that is driving me berserk. I have the manual, but despite following the instructions carefully in disassembling and reassembling it carefully, and having all the parts shown in the manual and the diagrams, it's all I can do to get the action to close. It will not dry-fire. Nothing seems broken, but I am in Engineering Hell with this rifle: Everything is there and correctly installed, at least I think so, but it doesn't work. Any ideas I could try, short of buying a completely new set of internals?
