Just looking for some info on a rifle I got in trade today. It is a older marlin 22lr model 70hc. Could use some cleaning up on the barrel from a little rust other than that it looks good and is nice and tight. It has pretty nice sights as well.

000 or 0000 grade steel wool and some gun oil will work wonders on the rust.

The 70 HC was the predecessor to the 795. Darn fine weapon.
You can use current 795 mags in it.
You can also use the Ramline Hi-Cap mags in them if you can find one.

Basically, anything you see in my 60/795 accessories thread is useable as well :)

Take some pics and post them when you get a chance :D

Thanks for the info. I have been trying to get pics up, however photobucket is total crap.

Yep, the HC came with Ramline mags...some got 15-rounders, some got more...

The Ramline mags WILL NOT fit in a 795...unless you file out the magwell bump in the 795 they put there to
make Bill Clinton & BATF happy back when the AW Ban was in force.

Now that it's over, I have zero idea why Ramline refuses to make those mags again...
But then, Ramline Customer Service sucks anyway.

Store the mag away from direct sunlight.

I reckon crazier things have happened. Do you have any idea if those are the stock sling mounts?

Those don't look original...especially the locations.

Can't quite tell from the pics, but it looks like they used the Marlin Bullseye for the back one...
    and the front...I don't believe Marlin ever did that...but it's a neat idea ;)

I'd take the one out of the bullseye & place it about halfway between the bullseye & the butt.
The bullseye is just held in with cheap glue and won't hold under serious Appleseed stress.

Replace bullseye with OEM Marlin or Numrich.
