mosin nagant stocks

    hey everybody i was interested in gettin a mosin nagant out the door for about 100$. i want to get the aftermarket monte carlo stock but dont know ecactly how it is going to look better on, a carbine or a full size. does anybody have any pictures of that stock with the guns so i can compare them? also, which is a better mosin nagant? and in which size? a carbine or full size?

    Printed again... adnausium...M44 in ATI Camo stock... Camo Natalia, yes she is a beauty. I think the synthetic stock works best with carbines.:)

    yes she is beutiful. i just didnt kno if it would be a little short at the end of the stock ( the barrel), but i can see it still sticks out a little ways. GOD! i wonder how long the regular mosins look with the stock.

    thx for the find. I want to find a mosin that is a carbine and that is not the m44 version. which one would i be looking for then and how much do they go for. im just looking for a rifle that is nothing to look at and i can make it look like a descent sniper rifle.

    A postwar (1946-1948) M44 is likely to have the best bore, but the earlier version carbine M38 is available for about $10 more. SOG has M38's for $89.95. From my own experience most of the M38's available now are counterbored, but typically still have very good rifling, and shoot very well.:)

    The M38 does not have the bayonet attached.

    yea the two important things are:
    1. no bayonet
    2. Carbine
    after i pay the ffl transfer fee i would be paying 140 for the mosin. il just have to look for one at one of the faraway gun stores near where i live (chicago)

    Dang, unless I was keeping the old wood stock in case I wanted to convert it back, I would cut off the two bands.

    And the bayonet is nice if you are camping and want to toast some marshmallows.:09:

    I need to take a new picture. The bands have been gone for months. The stock is now a spare for that rare "beater" with the perfect bore.:)

    check out buymilsurp.com they have a lot of barreled receivers, he had a finnish sniper barreled receiver a while ago, it got bought instantly

    sorry guys i been hearing that the m44 has a laminated stock? what exactly does that meen? does it meen that i cant sand it down and refinish it?

    Nope. They should strip and sand just like regular stocks. Laminated stocks are just a way of using scrap pieces by pressure glueing them together (kind of like plywood but stronger) and then shaping and cutting.

    Most of the M44's out there are solid birch. Usually laminated stocks cost $10-$20 more... as they are a little less common, and look nice.

    thx guys... im still in a toss up of my next gun. what do you guys think i should get? a ak or variant, a norinco sks, or a mosin nagant? and why?

    get a norinco ak while u still can, or they will most probably get back on the ban list with hilbama as pres. those guns are so nice its unbeleviable

    I would get an AK or SKS. I think they are going bye-bye as well, and it won't matter who gets elected !!

    I'm partial to the SKS as it is a classic rifle design and still relatively cheap.

    Buy now, as the prices are continuing to climb. That alone should help make the decision, regardless of what happens in November.
