Ladies and Gentlemen!!!!!!
I am the new proud owner of a 91/30, all stamps match the bolt, the barrel and the magazine stamp all match with the same numbers. This gun looks like it has never been fired. This one was wiped down rather well, so there was very little cosmoline on it. I stripped it anyway, and scrubbed her good. Fed a few rounds of 7.62x54r through her and she eats and spits out ammo perfectly. The bolt has a slight stick to it, but I think once I shoot her several times and clean her several times she will get rid of that slight stick. The guy at the gun show sold it to me for a total of $115, and he said if I didn't buy it for that price he was going to jack up the price a bit because he said the one I got had the better receiver on it. Not sure how to qualify that myself, but either way I ended up getting it. He had boxes of them, and he wasn't going to open each box and let me pick through it there are the expo center. There is also no counter boring of the barrel.
I got her all stripped and was going to take a pic and lone and behold my camera's batteries were dead. So, I ran up the street and got some batteries. Here she is, not sure what I am going to name her yet, but she is a Russian model.
Thanks to everyone again for their invaluable and great advice. I think I am going to shoot her probably next weekend. Can't tomorrow because the range I am going to tomorrow with the old man doesn't allow steel core ammo, and I bought a ton of milsurp ammo for here, which is of course all steel core. I could I guess, go pick up some soft point hunting ammo and take her out.
Also, where can I start looking for optics, and how hard is it to mount a scope on these things?
