Mounting Scopes on a FAL

Discussion in 'The Powder Keg' started by FALPhil, Apr 15, 2002.

  1. This thread is in response to Paul I's question regarding scoping a FAL.

The answer is "No". It is not hard to scope a FAL.

There are essentially two options available to you, both of which replace the dustcover over the bolt carrier. One is the "clamp-on" style mount, where the external cover has screws that tighten an inner rail to the upper receiver on each side. The other is a "slip on" that works identical to the original dustcover. I have one of each and my preference is the slip on style. I get better return to zero and less overall maintenance (no screws to retighten) on the slip on style.
