That's one of the down sides of having dogs. Unlike ornery parrots who'll outlive you unless you strangle them, you know when you take a dog into your heart that he'll get old and die. It's worth it, though.

My first dog came as a package deal with my wife, who adopted her as an older pup and trained/spoiled her right. She's still our only dog, and moving on in years, but friendly as ever. Definitely trying hard to make the most of every moment.

It is a very difficult ordeal when one loses his best buddy. I am sorry for your loss. My buddy, Gunner, is getting long in the tooth. much like myself. He's my 5th, and last, huntin buddy since I started out on my own.

I feel your pain. I really do. My Samson has been fighting cancer since April and I lost Grady two years ago. My pets have been a sort-of lesson in humilty for me. Their lifecycle is muh like ours, only much shorter. Tak some time to mourn your friend.

My wife and i just last night where talking about our dog of 11 years. His name was champ. It sure was fun having him in our family for the short years that we had him. He was a black lab that only existence was to serve and protect. When my little daughter was born he accepted her fully, and his place in our house was in her room as he warned us of her waking up when needing attention, we never needed one of those listening devices.

Said good buy on his last legs to all of us in order, me then my wife and made it down stairs to say goodbye to Marti.

Very sorry for your loss and take your time gittin back with us,but we will miss ya...
