i just got my new target rifle made, its a turkish mauser action ( i still need to bend the bolt) with a 25-06 target barrel in a Black walnut stock, it weighs in at 21.7 Lbs i shot the first 5 rounds out of her and it was like shooting a 22 mag.

no i havent thought about it the only thing i have thought about it with is i want a a nice scope about a 200-300$ one, and im going to put a timney trigger in it if i can find one for a Mauser Action

  4. Timney triggers aren't hard to find, Try Brownells

If you haven't already settled on a load let me suggest
IMR4831, Hornady 75gr V-Max, and Sierra 100gr Match King HPBT.
These components have shot very well in my long range PD rifle.
    GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!

Nice rifle you have there. I would also suggest using the 100gr Sierra match king bullets for target shooting. They are extremely accurate in my 25-06. As far as scopes are concerned I would look at trying to put a little more money away and buy a quality scope. For shorter range target shooting a cheaper scope might be fine, but the longer distances will really show you how cheap the scope is.

  8. Good looking rifle Link. Timneys are easy to come by. That what my cousin puts in all the Mausers he builds. Brownells or Midway should have them.

  9. If you have not bent the bolt, you have not mounted a scope. How do you have any idea what kind of accuracy this rifle will produce in its present condition?

I hope you have good luck, but it is "iffy."

You should have some good luck shooting Sierra 100gr bullets.

Save up a little money and put a good scope on it,you will regret it if you don't.

Sierra's Matchkings are definately the way to go. I use IMR 4350 in mine. My chrono shows less diviation with that powder. Take your bolt to a good smith and he can bend the handle or put a new one on for you.

well i got a scope and i bent the bolt (im a metal worker) i got some copper heat sink and wrapped it in a soaking wet rag, i cut the bolt and then welded it at an angle and filled in the gap with Mig welding (forgot my mask so i had to guess...) took it to the work bench and started to file it down and this is the rough work out process i also got a scope for it, i need to drill and tap it, its a Redfield 3x-12x i figured it would be good for the distance i want for it its an older one but it was a good price and i got to use it before i bought it and i was getting good groups at 500 yards which is what i want to shoot
