Hi recently I found some old muskets and what I believe to be a carbine rifle aswell as a flintlock pistol. I would really appreciate it if anyone can help me with the origin of the firearms and the periods in which they were used.
The sixth and seventh photos are of a North African jezail musket. Could be any time up to 1900 or so; from what I can tell from my reading, a lot of the Bedu and other tribes went straight from flintlock jezail muskets to bolt action cartridge rifles. We'd need closer photos of the breech area to tell you anything more.
The same can be said of the two caplocks at the top of the thread. One has what looks like the ring and bar arrangement used to secure it to a cavalry saddle. We need pix of the breech and hammer areas on both sides to see if there are any stamps that might provide information.
