Does it make me a Luddite for deciding to ignore any new cartridge from here on out?
Am I alone in that?

Nah. If you're older than 40 you've already outlived 143 (at last count) "wonder cartridges", and you can probably add another 20 for every decade beyond that. Heck, if someone is as old as Biden you can probably add a couple of zeroes to that, because WWII was a mass extinction event for literally thousands of calibers.Does it make me a Luddite for deciding to ignore any new cartridge from here on out?

No, if it's not broke don't fix it. I HATE change just for the sake of change!!!Does it make me a Luddite for deciding to ignore any new cartridge from here on out?

J&G sold 7.62x25 barrels for the 1911 years ago. The real issue was the magazine with the longer round. And that 'way' is?????I had a Commander in 38 Super MANY years ago made by Colt. I had no problems with it. BUT it is my understanding that using the 1911 for other than the intended use REQUIRES A LOT OF R&D. Am I wrong???
The 1935s; A proto-SIG in a more fun caliber. Everytime I get one at the shop I have to talk myself out of it, and it gets harder to do so each time.if it makes you feel any better.
how's about just jacking the pressure up on something old?

For me personally I see no use for such a cartridge. Now on the other hand I have been looking for a cartridge for my wife to comfortably shoot and carry. She is a petite statured woman and weighs all of a 100lbs. I have bought her several different guns over the years and yet she hasn't really liked any of them. The recoil on the few 380's she has shot wasn't exactly overwhelming but yet it was enough that she didn't care for it. The LCP she had was the first gen and she hated the double action trigger and the recoil was a bit much. She hasn't shot the newer one since we've been very busy these past few months. The ones she likes to shoot are way to large and not practical for carry in any way for her other than in her purse.
Maybe this cartridge will be a good fit for her? I of course will not buy one until I can find a place that has one for their indoor range gun that we can rent. I've bought enough guns for her that she doesn't want to shoot.
The recoil of the 380 LCP wasn't so bad for her. What she didn't like was the long double action trigger on the LCP. I have that solved with the double stack LCP.I'd bet the recoil on this will be between the 380 and 9mm, so not likely any better than the 380.
sounds like she might be a good candidate for a .22 carry gun. perhaps a .22mag revolver?
i wish the industry would come out with a few more options in sub compact .22lr semi auto pistols.
What about the 5.7? Doesn't someone make a 22 mag pistol with a 33 round magazineI'd bet the recoil on this will be between the 380 and 9mm, so not likely any better than the 380.

i suppose 5.7 would be an option, but i've never thought 5.7 was a very practical round for a civilian. too expensive, and it was designed to penetrate armor, which civvies dont really need. What about the 5.7? Doesn't someone make a 22 mag pistol with a 33 round magazine
What happened to the TCM 22...other than ammo availability
the answer is yes, it does do something new. it gives you essentially 9mm performance with more capacity.I guess the real question is, 'does this new caliber do anything new or is it just change for the sake of change, aka just for $$$$' ???? If it's not broke don't fix it!!!![]()
And that’s good. Militaries once only had single shot guns, but when repeating arms became available, it only made sense for those in mortal combat to want that capability. When facing off against multiple offenders, do you want a single shot weapon? Can someone please explain to me why more rounds is better? When I started shooting and hunting I was given a limited amount of ammo and was told not to waste it
