Well I could not resist a sale, I picked up a numbers matching 59/66, goobered in cosmoline of course, for $149

Hats off to Will England for his instructions to break it down:

http://will.mylanders.com/shot/sks/

I took my time and got most of the grease off (opting not to take it to the car wash) and cant wait to shoot it.

A few questions if I may:

How is the clean kit supposed to be removed? I have a replacement kit because the oem one is missing. The original kit cap is stuck inside. The only way I can see how it can be taken out normaly is with a spring inside the stock that ejects it out when the trap is open.

From the pics I have seen on the net the grenade style compensator has been replaced, is this supposed to negate the use of the launcher? (I want to buy some inert grenades and blanks someday)

Thanks,

Don

Congrats on your new Yugo, and welcome to Gun and Game Throb.
If you having trouble with the cleaning kit, then I suggest taking the whole butt plate off. Just might be something small, like you said.
If you haven't already, you might want to check out www.surplusrifle.com
Tons of great articles and some fun reads, including the Golf Ball launcher for your Yugo. Very cool.
