Some Norinco SKS's and other types of SKS's i have seen the 2 places for the sling is on the bottom of the stock and up towards the top of the gun just like any other gun. But on my norinco the place for the sling on the stock is on the left side of the stock and right below it is the serial number on the wood. I did a little research and to me it looks like it might be Norinco SKS Type 56 but i don't know for sure so if any of you guys could help i would appreicate it very much. Thanks

My first Norinco SKS had the side sling mount as you described, and I see others occasionally. From what I've read, it is just a variation from the more often seen under mount. Maybe for a specific use - cavalry or border police use? I've never seen any sign that it increases value over the more common type.
I don't care for it myself - that sling mount catches my cheek when I shoot it.
I ended up selling that SKS.
