I have a old 12 gauge, single barrel, breakdown shotgun. Only thing on it is EXCELL. Do any of you know when this gun was made, and by whom. I know that in the early years after smokless powder came along, that the big firearms manufactorers made guns and put the buyers name on them, such as a hardware store chain. The ones I've read about were the Bluegrass Hardware store shotguns, made by Winchester, and Remington. This gun is at least 80years old. It belonged to my Dad, and my grandad. It is still tight and shoots Ok, although I don't fire it anymore for sentimental reasons. many thanks.
