My son took his oldest 9Year old son bear hunting today . The others stayed home but will hunt later. The one that got the bear today is his birthday. He got this bear with his crossbow.

Helluva accomplishment............ but I am not a fan of bow hunting. The kid was lucky and I'm glad the animal didn't suffer, but this is a stunt that should not be attempted by anyone, ever, unless you're starving or in danger.

Both of my grandsons are well trained in handling and shooting with bow, muzzle loaders and rifles. They also are very good at hunting with the AR platform. They are 6 and 9 but very smart for their age as they have hunted since two years old. Same as I did with my sons. They actually will not take any shot if they think it will not kill the animal quick. I have seen them pass up deer before because of they didnt feel comfortable with the shot. They hunt from tree stands and blinds. The bear was shot from a ground blind.
