2 guns, each with 2 trips to the factory, same problems even with the new factory "fix". Safety on, it goes off. Safety off, it goes on.

This is not a good thing.

The new fix is to replace the spring loaded ball under the safety levers with a larger ball with no spring, so it sits in the detent tighter. This works, until the ball in short order wears a groove between the detents, rendering the detents usless.

I've had enough, the gun goes bye bye.

Look for my .22 exploits on the Sig or Browning forums in the near future.

I just got mine back from Walther last week. So far, I've put 300 rounds through it without the safety problem reoccurring. Seems to me an additional source of this problem is the plastic safety levers themselves. No matter how much you tighten the screws, the levers flex outward and as a result, don't keep sufficient pressure on the ball.

Had the same problem. I lubricated the safety and no more problem. I have 3 of the P22's and none of them have a safety problem. I used Sheath to lub the safety.
