I've a new PPK/S (imported by Smith and Wesson, and bought new late last year). I've read somewhere that the PPK isn't safe to carry with the safety off. The safety does provide a positive hammer block in the PPK. However, with the safety off, there is also a mechanical hammer block on this particular pistol which prevents the hammer from striking the firing pin unless the trigger is fully depressed. Anyone know why someone might consider this pistol (DA auto) dangerous to carry with safety off, or was it just the older models of the PPK lacked a hammer block ?
