In my quest for a new, more powerful rapid fire big game rifle, an idea hit me in the head. (Oh no, here he goes again.)

    What about a 45-70 pump action rifle/carbine?

The rimmed cartridge would work extremely well in a tube magazine like a shotgun. Heck, it could be designed off of a 410 shotgun with minor modifications for the higher stresses of the rifle caliber.

    What do you guys think?

I know a guy who hunted for many years with lever action 308s. When arthritis set in, they weren't as easy to operate, to he bought a Remington 7600 in 308 and mounted his favorite old scope.

I would think a 45-70 pump would be great for this and other reasons.

i'd rather see every caliber under the sun, especially the large belted magnums, available in semiautomatic magazine fed varieties.
