I remember seeing Gunny at the 2014 NRA convention. I've read several of his articles in various gun publications. He was a bigger than life personality. RIP.

Once in awhile, someone becomes the face of the United States Marine Corps. For awhile after World War II, it was John Wayne, whose character Sergeant John Stryker in Sands of Iwo Jima epitomized the tough-as-nails Marine combat sergeant. Then for awhile it was Jack Webb's Gunnery Sergeant Jim Moore in The D.I., who showed what it took to turn civilians into Marines. Then for a time it was Darren McGavin's drill instructor Gunnery Sergeant Drake from The Tribe. But most recently it has been, first, R. Lee Ermey's Gunnery Sergeant Hartman from Full Metal Jacket, and lately Gunny Ermey himself as "The Gunny."

I hope whoever next takes up the mantle of the Face of the United States Marine Corps is as worthy as R. Lee Ermey. He was a good man, and he will be missed. Semper Fi, Gunny.

They still run it on the weekends...looks like even they knew it was a major draw.
"Mail Call" and "Lock & Load" are in rotation as regular features.

Complications of Pneumonia at age 74...
doesn't pay to even short stroke with flu/pneumonia...
know the signs...go to the hospital...don't try to tough it out.
