    There is per say no root word for "VICTIM" it is derived from two LATIN Words,

    VICTIMA=BEAST FOR SACRIFICE
    VICTUS==To Conquer

    VICTIM came from victim, which was Greek. It was an animal that was ritually slaughtered in the name of a god, then eaten. The Latin words came from it. It is also the root of victuals, or vittles, meaning food.
