I need a source for RWS 6.5 x 57 (not 6.5 x 57R). I've seen several ads for RWS ammo, but no one seems to carry this one; Ideas?

Are you talking about 6.5 Swedish Mauser?

I am not familiar with the 6.5 Swedish Mauser. The 6.5x57 was derived from the 7mm Mauser, but I'm not certain any military arms were ever chambered for it.

the 6.5 swedish is the 6.5x55, and is its own casing- not derived from the 7x57.

If in fact it is a 6.5/57. would be the easyest thing to make out of a 7/57. That is if you can find the dies. Don't think i can reacall a 5.6/57 altho it would make a nice cartrage

The 6.5x57 can be made from neck sizing 7x57, and fire forming them. Finding 6.5 x 57 brass isn't too difficult, and I have a set of dies. This was never a popular caliber in the U.S., and my rifle is an old steyr. This is the only steyr I ever seen in this configuration; I bought this weapon in the mid-70's (it was already several years old) from Don Wood who later founded GSI. He (Don) said he's not seen another like it in this country. I bought it during my 6.5mm infatuation phase. RWS makes the ammo, but I can;t find anyone in this country who carries it.
