I see you're the S&W guru, and was hoping you can help me ID this one I just ended up with (it was originally my great grandfather's):

Serial # 36348X

Patents: Feb 6, '06; Sept 14, '09; Dec 29, '14

5 screw configuration [4 side plate, one in front of trigger guard]

4" barrel (I believe, though not sure how, exactly, to measure)

Fixed sight blade

I was hoping to find out roughly when it was made. (I'm not too concerned about auction $$ value, as I'm not gonna ever get rid of it, but I guess I'd like to know if it's old enough to be unusually "valuable.")

Also, I'm taking it to a gunsmith today for cleaning/maint/overhaul -- what ammo would you recommend for it? Thanks in advance!

Make that a 5" tapered barrel. Anybody? I'm mainly wondering about the estimated manuf. date, based on the 36348X serial number. Thanks.
