Nah, I did a few but it was for older milsurp rifles. My pistolas came either by buying them (A lot from Bud's Guns) or trading them. Sole exception was a joke bid of $40 on a Hi-Point .45. Imagine my shock when I won the POS. Then I got it and figured out why.
I haven't went through and read this entire thread yet but I'm glad that you mentioned the hi power and a star. I like my Hi Power but I bought a full length 5" Modelo Star Super B 9mm today. I was looking for an occasional range shooter but I didn't want to spend too much within reason but I also wanted something that I could get a little more distance and accuracy out of than my hi power or my compact 45. This thing has the linkless Browning camlock design Barrel just like the high power but it has a barrel bushing just like the 1911 & it feels really nice in my hand and points naturally. If it shoots half as good as it fills even for an occasional range gun I'll be quite pleased with it ...
My new 66 arived at the gun shop today. Went to visit it and put another $50 down on it.Was'nt expecting it to arive so soon. Figure if I keep putting a little money on it every week Ill have it in no time.
One disapointment they no longer have
That deep blueing. The now use the Tenifer prosses that their sister company Berretta uses.
It is actually a form of case hardening after glass beading. It that has an after effect of a thick, black, very tough coating.
Supposed to be better then blueing.
Just was a little disapointed cause I realy liked the old deep blue.
I guess time will tell. I am buying it to use and abuse. Not polish and admire.
Sounds like you are in the boat I was in with the Firestar M43...
and the Taurus 24/7Pro-C...the Pro-C was ok, double-stack mag
meant 17+1, but it felt a bit short, and the Wifey took it over
So I ended up with a Star Firestar M243 double stack...15+1,
looks a bit Hi-Power-ish...also uses S&W 5900 series mags
Reportedly also uses Beretta 92 mags, especially that 33-round joker!!
Just have to file in a magwell hole.
The best thing? Dead On Accurate!! If I do my part, it does its
AKA tank builders.
