a lot of times you will find old shotguns at sales how do tell if the barrel is damascus, twist, laminated,or solid steel, someone once told me that damascus, laminated, twist, was black powder and had 2 1/2 inches bore, while solid steel for smokeless powder had 2 3/4 inches bore, that you could make a gauge with a 3/4 inch dowel pin with sheet of paper wrap aruond to measure depth of the bore, thanks in advance.
