Question for y’all: do you use a sling with your lever action rifle?

Most lever actions are easy to carry without a sling, and I suppose it could be somewhat of a nuisance when cycling the lever (especially rapid cycling). On the other hand, I’m pretty conditioned to carrying and firing with a sling from my military days, so seems more natural that way. I suppose for some older rifles it could have the downside of having to drill into the stock to attach a sling mount. I expect there are many more thoughts about pros/cons.

Including a “poll” so we can see how preferences pan out.

If I have a rifle that already has sling swivels installed, I will use a sling. If it does not have the swivels, I will not be drilling into the stock to install them to use a sling. All of my rifles, regardless of what they are came with sling swivels so I use slings with them regardless if they are bolt, semi, pump, or lever action.

Sling or not depends on where I’m hunting. If it’s a short walk or a roll through heavy brush, the sling stays in the truck.

Long walks sees sling attached.
