I have a 6.5x55, and the barrel is REAL dark.. it shoots, but not great. How hard is it to remove the barrel, and put on a good one? Bob

I want to stick with 6.5x55.. because of the bolt face, also, I meant to say the bore is dark.. I can see rifling, but barely. Bob

find yourself a good gunsmith. by the time you buy the parts, and tools to do the job properly, it will end up costing you much more than having a smith do it. ive built a few guns, so i do speak from experience.

The bolt face and extractor need not be a concern for re-barrelling a 6.5, but the 6.5 is a great calibre. It is only about 5-6 thousandths over the standard case size at the bolt head. It is not much trouble to rebbl a swede. I USED TO do a rebarrel, headspace and test fire for 100 bucks. It can be done with a good STRONG vise and a headpace guage, but by trying various factory loads even the headspace guage could be eliminated. I'd probably ask 150-175 to do so today!
