Yesterday I wondered out of the house for a drive and ended up at a gun shop. After wondering around for a little while I looked at a Canik TTI and a Springfield Echelon (full size) 4.5" and ended up bringing home the Springfield.

My first impression is that the sights work well with my old eyes and they are the same as my 10mm so target acquisition is quick and easy. The trigger is better than my Hellcat pro and Sig P365 with a nice clean reset.

The first 5 shots with factory ammo at 33 feet were inside of 2"

  • (1) 20-Round Magazine
  • (4) 17-Round Magazines
  • Crimson Trace CTS-1500 Red Dot
  • Ambi- slide release and magazine release
  • Range Bag
  • Storage Bag
  • Tritium / Luminescent Front Tactical Rack U-Dot Rear sights
  • Optic Ready slide (with removable pins) to accommodate any optic footprint without an adapter plate needed.

I figured that I'd put out a full range report on this since I've had a little more trigger time with it.

Overall, the ambidextrous controls are nice for both strong hand and weak hand shooting. The trigger had very little creep and broke crisp with little overtravel, the reset was short and clean. I don't have a trigger force gauge so can only guess that it was around 5 lbs.

I opted for the medium sized grip backstrap which gave me a good hold on the pistol when shooting but I could go up to the large without any issues.

The front night sight and the rear white "U" was easy for my old eyes to acquire targets quickly and I was able to reach out to hit the silhouette steel targets at 100 yards a few times.

I ran 200 rounds of new Blazer Brass and Federal 115gr FMJ through it with zero functional failures.

My wife picked it up and ran 2 magazines through it hitting more steel targets out to 25 yards than she typically does. I think the longer sight radius of the 4.5" barrel was helpful for her as well as the added weight of a full-size gun with 20+1 rounds to reduce muzzle rise. This pistol comes in around 24 oz with the magazine.

It came with the "gear up" package of 5 magazines, range bag and a Crimson Trace RDS but I opted to not put it on and just use the iron sights. I'm not a fan of the CT 1500 RDS and will probably try to sell it with the two other ones that I have in my spare parts pile.

This is the first full sized 9mm that I have purchased in a long time but have been pleased with it.
