Springfield Ultra Compact

Have only 100rds. through my Springfield Ultra Compact -- It functions flawlessly, is as accurate as I am, and I'm quite happy with it. I am considering a "drop-in" full-length guide rod --besides the cosmetic effect of plugging the hole below the barrel, would this net me anything valuable? This Springfield is my first 1911 - so I'm a newbie at this...comments would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dave

Get the Haarts recoil reducer. Its a guide rod that has merury in it to alleviate the recoil by about 1/3.
