Well, to finally answer what I did with the poor,
beat up M45 Firestar I got a few weeks ago...
here's the answer!!

OD Green and Gold trim & barrel!

Much better looking now...
gonna hit the range this weekend to make
sure that it functions with no hiccups,
or if I need to tweak it a little...
And I need to hi-viz dot the sights,
which will only take a few minutes...
tempted to Gold Paint 'em too ;)

Now have a total of $400 in the little rascal...
$200 for the pistol originally,
and $200 for the Cerakote job...
still, not bad for something that usually
sells for $350-$500 on a regular basis!

And I totally concur with this review :)

That really turned out nice. I would like to take one of my guns some day and dress it up a little bit.

Who did the cerakote ?
Sadly, I'm not going to give them a reference,
as while it looks good in pics, there are failures.
Prep work was shoddy, making for mistakes in
the Cerakote...but you can really only see them
when up nose close. Looks like he failed to use
the primer properly in some places, which should
have filled in the machining marks on the nose
of the barrel undercut. There's some roughness
around the main assembly pin area which should
have been smoothed out...Has two lines on the
hammer knurling which didn't get fully coated,
and a few other small annoyances. But since
you can't see any of that 3' away, I'm
reasonably ok with the job overall...but I
just won't be using TGD again. When coughing
up $200 for a Cera job, I expect better Prep/QC.

Have a Ballester-Molina slide with another
company which should be done in two weeks.
Should be an interesting after comparison...
Planning a third pistol done at a third location,
as I'm literally testing out every Cerakote
applicator in the P'cola area to find out who really
DOES do the best work.

The Ballister-Molina slide came out quite nicely,
Satin Black, and it was Jim's Gun Shop
on 9-Mile Road in Pensacola,
across from Cash America, if
anyone needs some work done :)

I used to live off Nine Mile rd in Pensacola!

very unique looking pistol you got there too
Yep, definitely unique :)

On the upside, by the time it needs a new coat,
I'll dream up a better color scheme ;)
