I have a Winchester Ranger 12 Gauge Pump that I purchased new in 1984. It is chambered for 3" magnums and I have a question.

It doesn't say anywhere in the manual if it can use steel shot. My neighbor sold his shotguns and had a leftover box of brand new 3" steel #4 shells that he gave to me. Would this damage the barrel or choke tubes? I was considering some duck hunting but am concerned about using this shotgun and steel shot.

It's good. Steel shot was being used in 1984. The beginning of federal mandates for waterfowl.
