This has an urban myth sound to me. Where's the documentation?
I think IF Apple is really doing this, it's in response to hackers unblocking iPhones so they can be used with outfits other than AT&T. Apple has a deal with AT&T so that iPhones must be used with AT&T's wireless service.
once you buy the phone its yours. apple doesnt have crap to say about what you do with it after the sale. if they did this, i could see an invasion of privacy lawsuit the likes of which could bury the company. theyre lawyers would obviously know this and tell them its a bad idea.
the original article says preparing for a patent. Cyrano is correct. until we see an actual patent application number this is just a rumor .
im not saying its not true . just that there is no proof cited .
The link to the patent number is right in the article guys...Granted it wasn't exactly labeled well.
