I was going to change the mainspring on my 15 year old Taurus PT-92 for a lighter one but I can't get the pin at the bottom of the frame out to remove it. Is this disassembly like the Beretta where you have to push down on the lanyard loop and then push the pin out or do you just push it out while holding on to the lanyard loop so parts don't go flying? The lanyard loop on mine is tight and not moveable.

Here is an example:

Mainspring

I'm talking about the "MAINSPRING", not the "RECOILSPRING".
The recoil spring is on the steel rod that rides below the barrel IN THE SLIDE.
The mainspring is at the very rear of the gun inside the frame which is covered by the grips.
That is where the MAINSPRING is.
Mainspring has to do with trigger pull.
From the Beretta:
Figure 9 on this page.http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/6078/recdisas.htm

The lanyard loop (little round thingy at bottom of gun with hole in it) on the Taurus does not move up and down with pressure before you take out the pin.
