Hello collectors.
I got this revolver as an inheritance and would like to know what model it is, the value and the story behind this piece of art.
Thank you for your support.

Except for different grips, looks identical to my Smith & Wesson 3rd Model Double Action made in 1886. Caliber .38 S&W. Mine also has a 6 digit serial number. Production ran from 1880 to about 1912. also the engravings are different between the two revolvers, but I'm sure they had more than one engraver in house back then. Do you know what the barrel length is, that would help narrow it down. Also the caliber. If its .38 S&W caliber, the serial numbers ran from 119,001 and run to 322,700. If .32 caliber, the serial numbers ran from 43,406 to 327,641, it was discontinued in 1919. They also made a 2nd model, a 4th model, a Schofield and a Russian model. If you google search the S&W serial number data base, you'll get more info as to when it was exactly made.
Mine has been in my family since almost new, it was passed down to me by my Dad a couple of years before he passed away, it was passed down to him from his Dad.
