Has anyone used vinegar to kill weeds? I read someplace that it works as good as weed killer. It seems like a better thing to use if you have pets or little ones. Just wondering if it works

Yes, vinegar works. with some dish washing soap.

    My wife used this combo.
    1 Gal White Vinegar
    1/2 Cup Salt
    1 Tsp of Dawn.

If you have a well for drinking water you have to be careful about using weed killers, throwing away oil, paint and other chemicals that could get into your water system.

My son has a well and horses so water quality is important.

You can also make bug sprays. Check the internet.

Is this mix a general herbacide, or weed-specific?

It kills almost any weed and grass too.

We just use it on concrete gaps and around stuff like gravel beds. Anyplace you don't want weeds.

In grass areas we simply pull any weeds that pop up.

I dump a large pile of epsom salt or 13-13-13 fertilizer on weeds I want dead in my garden. It works, and is great for the garden in the long run.

In my area it works to some degree...and I do use it. But I prefer using a small torch for the garden and I pull out my "dragon" for walkways and drive ups.

I've used regular old white vinegar and Dawn for weeds, but don't add the salt unless I don't ever want anything to grow there for a couple years.

This is an option too! :D

    Dandelion Salad with Vinaigrette Dressing:

    Directions:

Discard tough stems from Dandelion greens. Cut top 5 inches from greens and reserve. Cut remaining greens into 3/4-inch slices. Transfer all greens to a large serving bowl. Coarsely chop nuts and finely chop garlic. In a small heavy skillet cook garlic and nuts in peanut oil over moderate heat, stirring, until garlic is golden. Stir in vinegar, hazelnut oil, and thyme. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
Pour hot vinaigrette over greens and toss to combine.

If ya can't beat em', eat em! LOL
