A visit to a local pawn shop uncovered a percussion side by side shotgun that was described as a wallhanger. I didn't look over the gun.

But I'm new to this and am curious. What should I look for if I choose to see it? I doubt that just looking down the barrels will accomplish much.

Pictures would help. However, if it has Damascus barrels (google that), then it is likely a wall hanger.

Could be any number of things. The seller should be able to tell you why it's labeled as such.

Always wondered if one could fit a new/used set of good steel barrels
to replace damascene ones...might be a PITA tho...

Go back and get some pictures if you can. You never know.

I bought a G grade Parker double out of shotgun news from a dealer in Texas that had it advertised as a "Trojan". The "hint" on that one was the engraved receiver.

I have heard of sleeving Damascus barrels with fluid steel liners.

Took a closer look today. The gun is a Parkhurst of undetermined vintage, well worn, needing mechanical work on the hammers. No Damascus barrels. Passed on the deal.
