I just baught this S-A-3-52 barreled Springfield M1 with a perfect bore. When I got it home and disassembled it, the barrel is tack welded to the receiver in two spots. It's nicely done, but I've never seen or heard of this.

    Ever hear of this?

That is a Driill rifle and might not be safe to shoot? Allot depends on how the weld is on the recevier. I would have it checked by a qaulified gunsmith. You also may have a barrel that didnt match up to the recevier and index to far so some Dufus welded it in place so it wouldn't unscrew after you shot it. I wouldnt buy it at this point you may have some trouble with it. Rick B
