Squirrel, turkey, rabbit and close up yote.
Not really interested in savings as a main factor. But would be nice. I just really enjoy loading my own ammo.
I've been pondering the same thing since I got my 3-1/2" Super Mag I have been wanting to experiment with certain 3.5" buckshot loads that are not factory available like #1Buck .
My only problem has been finding 3.5" shells/hulls and the shot wads.
Not that that project is a big priority I've got a decent amount of 2-3/4" 00 Buck. And I'm starting in 3" #1 for testing.
That's all in factory ammo right now. I don't even have a loading setup and many seem desiged for birdshot not buck shot or slugs.

Well Sunday a bro of mine dropped off around 140 or so .223 rounds that I'm going to pull down and reuse the primed brass and bullets.
Bullets look to be either Nosler or Sierra polymer tipped varmint bullet.
Cases are Winchester and look brand new.

Update its 40gr. and the brass looks to be new by the looks of it.
Bullet weight makes me go hmmm. As my barrels are 1-7 and 1-8 twists.

Looks good if the primers weren't crimped in.
They're not, all commercial Winchester brass. And it's handloaded stuff anyhow.

But dang using a bullet puller is the reloading equivalent of root cannel work.:p

I bought some IMR7828 for the larger calibers. Never used it before. Any fans here?
No, but I hope to be one as I got a big jug of it to load up some 225gr Hornady ELD Match bullets in .300 win mag.
Is yours the "Super Short Cut" stuff or the regular?

Not at the bench but I'm sitting in the den sorting out .223/5.56 brass by the mfg.
Started noticing something very similar head stamp wise between two different mtg's.
Checked a source or two and found out Winchester has the current contract to run Lake City.

Yesterday put a polish on some 1000 or so 5.56cases through a new tumbler.
Now I'm cranking down on the press handle amid other firearms chores.
If I get roughly half through the FLSB die today I'll be happy.
No trouble just not as enjoyable as I get older.

Ron, I had nothing to do with it! Sometimes, if you flip screens it all goes away. I wonder where all the lost post go. Mine, may come back to haunt me in the feature.
....
They all end up in the 3-3/4 dimenson along with all the socks that go missing in the laundry.

Doing the unromantic task of brass prep

Same here.

These have been resized and had the primer pockets swagged.

The next step is checking OAL and those on the long side go to one bucket for a trim . These however are ready to prime.

Still a long ways to go.

Loaded the last of the .223 brass I had on hand. 336 rounds. I had run out'ta H-335 powder, but a local gunshop had some and I picked up 3 pounds this mornin' so I could finish up. Ran out'ta stripper clips and had to box up some of them. View attachment 142386
There's an outfit called Clean Ammmo, has or did pandemic panic buying to consider, bundles of stripper clips fairly cheap
If you really need more.

Sized approximately 500 .38 Special cases, and got the primer pockets cleaned on around 250+/- .

And that ladies and gents is enough for this afternoon.

Well after 6 months of dragging my feet.

I'm gonna do my first batch of .300WinMag for my still brand new rifle.

Hornady brass, Hornady 225gr ELD-Match bullets, Federal Large Rifle Magnum Primers and IMR 7828SSC powder.
I hope I can work up a long range target puncher.

400 down 700 more to go 68gr Hornady BTHP Match. Should when done give me a bit over 2000 rds of it. By down I mean loaded up still have to run them through the crimp die and seal the primers.

My 18.5" AR rifle loves these and it's not to shabby even in my pistols when I hold them steady enough.

Not much trying to figure out how to best manage my components. With everything being scarce again. WW-748 I use for 5.56 and 7.62 NATO loads. Got them developed enough primers, brass and bullets but I'm short on 748.
I figure as I'm low on 7.62 NATO I'd best load up that.
Also gotta finish the .300WM project.

Being sick has had me backed up on a bunch of stuff.
