    Hi Everybody,
On my Norinco NHM-91 there is a small lever that is forward of the safety lever on the reciever. It is currently pointing down. What is this lever for? I can't find a description of it in the manual I bought at the gun show. Thanks for any help.

If it's on the receiver right next to the magazine well, it is the magazine catch/release lever.
    Regards.

If it's on the rear sight base, it releases the top handguard. Rotate it up to about the 10 o'clock position and it will allow you to take off the upper handguard for cleaning after you remove the piston/bolt carrier assembly.

Yes, it is right below the rear sight base on the side of the reciever. I think you are right that it is to release the handguard during dissassembly. Thanks for the info.
