The later, earlier series, or both?
I liked the earlier Superman series episodes the best, in later years Superman kept jumping over the same tall building and the series just got old.
I did notice when Superman was shot with a No.4 Enfield and Mk.7 ammunition it seemed to make him hesitate a little longer before he could grab the bad guy and bend and tie the barrel in a knot.
The original series...to me John Joseph Patrick Ryan is the only REAL Steve McGarrett!
Just kidding, Laufer!
Are we talking No 1 vs No 4? Or variations on the no 4? I am new to the No 1 Mk III* and have had a couple of No 4 Mk Is. I think the bolt operation is smoother on my No 1 but I prefer the sight picture on my No 4s.
I like the flush muzzle of the No1 Mk III It protects the crown very nicely. I like the ladder sights on my No4 Mk I much better and the No 4 seems to have a better balance. I like them both just the same.
I really like the No5 quite a bit. Its one of my top five favorite rifles in my collection. But then again so is my no1 mk3* so i guess its a toss up between those two. The No4 is a decent rifle but Ive had enough problems with the two that I've got that im kinda soured when it comes to them. No.4s are good, its just the two i got were kinda lemons so unless there is something really nice about a No.4 i dont see myself buying another any time soon.
My Savage No.4 got better after i cleaned the crown up with some lapping compound and a solid brass round headed bolt.
I love the Sights on a No.1 Mk3 and the weight feels really good in the hands. The No.5 I love how handy and how good it feels when pulled up to the shoulder.
The only experience I have is with a No1 MkIII* so I have no choice but to pick that one.
The Word Series ranks right up there near the top of my favorite series. That could change if the Rangers don't get their act together.
Texas Rangers, Texas Rangers........ thats right Texas has Base Ball teams "and" Aggie jokes.
And they also have the Alamo.............
Thats where those eight drunk Mexicans whoop all those Texicans.
Do you know how to bury a six foot Texan...........
Beat the crap out of him and put him in a match box.
Class of 1968

God I miss those mosquitoes as big as a B-52 bomber....
And that rot gut Lone Star Beer.
(sorry I'm a Yankee now living in Pennciltucky and my Phillies lost and someone has to pay)
Four point Texas Jackalope
the alternate series, P14!!!!
There are some serious issues here that need to be made resolved....
I really wish Memphis had a large gun show like you can find in Texas. My one dream is to attend one of those, if not in Tulsa, the Holy Grail (Mecca).
Is the person in the Upper photo one of the White House
As for series, "Combat" (with Vic Morrow), "12 O'clock High" and the "Rat Patrol" were really good.
It really surprised me that I did not lose interest in LEs after receiving my first Garand in early August.
The #5s might be my favorite, but knowing that the #4/1 represents the main WW2 British/Commonwealth battle rifle makes it hard to decide.
It's so confusing! :[
I like the handling of the No 5. But, recoil could be pretty stout. I like the looks of the No. 4 and that is the Enfield I own.
The No.4 is my favourite because the aperture-peep sight makes it far easier to shoot for people who wear glasses or have chronologically gifted eyesight.
The No.4 is also easier to adjust the bedding on and get the No.4 shooting properly. Many of the Enfield rifles suffer from dried out stocks from lack of re-oiling with raw linseed oil and the bedding needs to be worked on in the rear draws area.
You can't just tighten the forward trigger guard screw if the bushing-collar is too long if you have wood shrinkage.
The rear of the fore stock must be a tight fit in the draws area.
Only have 1 it's a No. 4 so can't compare, but i sure love it Laufer.
But you sold me your #5, or did you have another?
The ones that come in a box.
I must say I agree - boxed ones are best :
I would have to agree with Alan - if I could find one for sale like his and MJs!!!
Next choice would be Enforcer, then Long Branch No.4 Mk.1 - and I have no idea why.
Agreed! Guys with rifles that come in a box win!
Ok Laufer we all agree you must buy one that comes in a box, and it can't be cardboard!
Well I don't pass on the standalones on a cold night..
