What kinds of SKSs are most common among browsers here?
I think you're allowed to check more than one if I enable the feature...

I'd sure like to know what that "other" is.

BRG3, I've read of an East German model, apparently a few escaped some years ago. My "Small Arms of the World" book shows it, having a buttstock slot-mounted sling attachment like a K98. They are supposed to be of excellent quality.

I heard about the East German, but never heard from anyone who had one.
  5. The other, is Romanian. I picked that one.
  6. Some of my " others " are kit guns I've put together from left over parts total of 5 of them.

My 2 best are Romanians with all matching serial numbers and original parts.

Git a ChiCom Paratrooper I got in 95.
I'm still looking for a nice Romanian too.

Now how does one put together a kit SKS? I've thought of renovations, but can you really economically assemble one from scratch? I thought the barrel and receiver were practically mated for life.

I " pressed" one out for for a buddy, in the shop, wasn't really that tough, it was harder to get the **** pin out than the barrel itself. I had to fab a holder for the receiver from 1"x1" bar stock.

Haven't tried to remove one of the threaded ones, yet.
  10. Mine's a Yugo and I just got it last weekend. I could very well get another since I think they're the coolest of the SKS family.

For me "other" is a new/unfired chicom bring back and an Exc NVA bringback. NVA - thats North Vietnamese Army - Not National Volks Armee. Course I'd like to have one of them too!
I brought the chicom back in 70 and a buddy who knew I was looking for a blade bayonet variation found a vet who had one to sell. Got his war trophy papers with the SKS. The NVA turns out to be one of the 2 or 3 rarest of the SKS mfgrs.

wonder what happened to them, with the fall of East Germany, Commieism, and relaxed import rules. should have been a few here by now.

    I have two, a commercial Chinese Norinco, and a war-relic Yugo M59/66.
The Yugo is a far better shooter.
