as some of ya know i picked up another 91/30 the other day. well i have all the finish off and most of the cosmolene off and i am toying with the idea of floating the barrel and glass bedding it or pillar bedding. im leaning toward pillar bedding just cause of the mess. but have yall ever floated a mosin barrel before? were the results worth the trouble?
will a mosin float?...

Well, that's what the Finns did with the superb M39, and the Swiss with their K31 - barrel floated most of it's length with a small contact point at the extreme frontend.
The only concern is that the M91/30 has a very thin fore end and handguard - can't take off too much material.
So, if it "floats yer boat", try it!
