This seems to be one of the lesser-kown Winchester .22 rifles.

It was made by Winchester in their Canadian factory and it is a full-size rifle made to have the same feel as a center fire model-70, model-100 and the lever model-88.

I took it out shooting back in the '90's but experienced a few misfires. I think it may like one brand of ammo better than another to make everything work properly. The barrel is clean and oiled but I'm thinking about taking it down for a good clean and lube job just to make sure there's no problem there.

Does anyone have any experience with the model-490, especially what ammo works the best?.
