I love my 350 Legend (Bear Creek upper) not only because it is a great hunting rifle but it is also easy to reload for. I can reload with cheap 9mm bullets for target shooting at the range.
That is exactly my thought process. The caliber is legal in Ohio for deer, coyote, hogs, practice, and self defense.
AK Hunter, that is a nice rig you have there.

thanks for the info, I knew they made 10 round, wasn't sure about a 5-round mag. I guess, if someone makes fun of having a tiny magazine, I will have to say never needed more than one shot but if you like I could kill them twice.
Agree, but with an AR platform, that's just wrong .
The reason for the three round limit is exactly why they have it. People with semi autos firing a dozen rounds wildly,as a group of deer run by. When I bought my first AK a MAK 90 it came with three five round mags. That was 1993.

In my state the 5.56 has always been legal for deer, but 22 cal semi autos have been limited to I think, 7 round mags
while hunting deer, I have no clue where they got that number, but I have had several 5 and 10 round AR mags for maybe 30 years. Everybody that hunts deer with ARs has had them for years. For everything else, hogs, coyotes, etc, no limit. I am a vet of both the Army and Air Force and carried them a lot, most people like 30 round mags, I prefer the 20 for just daily use, like coyote hunting. The ten round mags are fine too, they do not get in the way if you are shooting while resting the gun on the hood, coyotes of course.

For the last 30 years I only hunt old deer, do not shoot babies or does. Makes hunting hard, but after several times of having does and little 6 point bucks just stand their curious at 10 yards, I decided there was no skill in killing them and they will grow twice as much meat if you let them live just three years. The last doe I killed was 1991. I leave them for the children and new hunters to shoot or people who desperately need the meat.

All that said to say, I have used the five round mags in ARs and AKs and the excellent Mini 14 and 30, since 1991. I remember the year because I bought the Mini 30 as a gift to myself after Desert Shield and Storm. I used the 5 round mags in the mini 14 since 1978. The mini 14 and 30 come from the factory with 5 round mags.I have not fired but two rounds when hunting with the 'assault rifles'.

There is just something very manly about hunting with an AR that only has 3-5 rounds in it and you know you will come back with one deer and most of that ammo. Not everybody can do that, mostly just us old guys willing to hunt long and never taking an iffy shot. Most younger guys do not have the mental discipline to do that. Just my two cents, lots of people new to hunting may disagree.

Off the subject a bit but mentioned on another thread, I have ARs in 5.56, 300 BLK and 7.62x39. I use color coded mags, so I do not take the wrong ammo. I use desert tan or fde for the 7.62, black for the 5.56 and blue for the 300. The last mag below is from Midway, it has over 200 reviews so I guess it works.

The 350 gets great reviews for a short range deer round, give us some reports. Might just be the perfect round, I dunno.

That is where I got mine at Beer Creek Armory, it looks and feels like a good quality upper. I haven't had the time or the ammo to shoot mine yet, still trying to get the wife to pick out what kind of sights she wants on it, open, holographic, or a 1-6 vortex strike eagle. Then I will go out and site it in for her and running a bit of ammo through it. Oh and the price was very right as well for the complete upper, 297 I think is what it was.

Great info. I had asked that question in a different thread for the 300 BO on my build list. I was going with a Blue Charging handle and painting a Blue triangle on the magazines. For the 350 Legend, it will have to be a Red Charging handle and Hex Mags. That will give enough differentiation.

I have the 1-6 Strike Eagle and for me, the reticle does not fit my shooting style. I prefer the basic crosshairs and reverted back to the Vortex Diamond Back 4-12x40 scope with the Dead Hold reticle. The only thing, I had to get the wider finger tab charging handle because where the Diamondback scope sets (right over the charging handle) even with a cantilevered scope mount. For my AR pistol I have a Red Dot.
Between the two photos, you can see spacing locations for the optics. Gives you a reference point. Also, consider the stock position for eye relief. As for me, I will have to do some major readjustments in my shooting style and configurations...my right eye won't allow me to utilize a scope so I will have to relearn and shoot left handed. Straight lines are not straight on my right eye. Left eye is fine. Getting it treated but for now, some things will have to be done differently.

Illinois is allowing straight wall cartridges in rifles in some counties. One of the rules is it has to be a single shot. I’m not sure if I could use an AR with no magazines present and be legal.

Would it comply with being a single shot if you plugged the gas block to where it wouldn't cycle?

That sucks. My guess is they invest in the few companies that make the single shot. That said if I lived there I would consider one of these, single shots. In have several CVAs black powders including a 50 cal pro hunter and the one like above in 50 cal. Both have killed big deer. I like the Henry's but think the CVAs are likely more accurate. I think they have Bergara barrels.

I know very little about how all that works. How do you come to be a vet of two different branches? And a sincere thank you for doing so. I have few regrets, but passing up the opportunity to join is one of them. Although, my wife and son were well worth the regret. I would not have them had I done so.

Actually, everyone of my family served in the Army, Air Force and Navy. When I was about 19 and ran out of money for college I joined the Army. Spent about 6 years and got out. A couple years later I joined the Air Force to work in a series of special assignments in investigations and intel. I spent about 6 years running protective service operations for dignitaries, carrying a 1911 normally 24/7, hence my love of this platform.

I pulled the trigger and ordered a stainless 18 inch 350 Legend barrel from Bear Creek along with a stainless flash suppressor, and two 10 round magazines. Tomorrow I will order a set of dies and two packages of 100 rounds of brass for the 350 legend. I purchased three 30 round Hex Mags last weekend for $8.00 each. Not sure what else I will order, I will sleep on it and order it after church. October will be a fun month.

Have any of you seen this when you place an order for components or parts? None of the items I ordered require FFL handling so this was a surprise.

It is the responsibility of the consumer to ensure all state, local, federal, and ITAR regulations are followed.

I've seen the first line, but don't recall seeing the paragraph underneath. Something must have changed.
I know cities/communities in CO have been banning specific things and there are rumblings on the local forum about stores checking area codes to ensure whatever is being purchased isn't being purchased by someone living in a forbidden zone. Maybe the trend is more widespread than Denver suburbs.
